Sorbitol is an internationally approved food additive, China's "Standards for the Use of Food Additives" from GB2760-1996 allows the maximum use of sorbitol (liquid) in surimi and its products of 0.5g/kg to GB2760-2014 allows the maximum amount of sorbitol (liquid) applied to frozen surimi products of 20.0g/kg. In 2017, the National Health and Health Commission (formerly the National Health and Family Planning Commission) issued the Announcement on the expansion of the dosage and scope of use of 6 New food additives such as Edavantane and 6 food additives such as sodium cyclohexyl sulfamate (also known as cyclamate) (No. 8 of 2017) to expand the scope of use of sorbitol.
