Oleic acid is an indispensable nutrient in animal food. Its lead salt, manganese salt and cobalt salt are paint drying agents; Copper salt is a preservative for fishing nets; Aluminum salt can be used as waterproofing agent for fabrics and thickening agent for some lubricating oils. Oleic acid can be epoxidized to produce epoxy oleate (plasticizer). Oxidative cracking to produce azelaic acid (raw material of polyamide resin).
