Trimethoprim (TMP) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C14H18N4O3, a white or yellowish crystalline powder, odorless, bitter, slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in water, and easily soluble in glacial acetic acid.
Trimethopridine is a synthetic broad spectrum antibacterial agent, used alone for respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, intestinal infection and other diseases, can be used to treat sensitive bacteria caused by sepsis, meningitis, otitis media, typhoid, shigellosis (dysentery) and so on.

1. Trimethoprim alone can be used to treat acute simple urinary tract infection and bacterial prostatitis caused by sensitive bacteria.
2. Trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole or sulfadiazine combined, can be used to treat sensitive bacteria caused by sepsis, meningitis, otitis media, typhoid fever, shigellosis (dysentery) and so on.
3. Trimethoprim and sulfame-2, 6-dimethoxypyrimidine combined, can also be used to treat chloroquine-resistant malaria.
