Sodium cyclamate, chemical name of sodium cyclohexane sulfamate, is an organic compound, chemical formula C6H12NNaO3S, is a commonly used sweetener, sweetness is 30 to 40 times that of sucrose.
In 1969, mice fed with sodium saccharin-cyclohexane sulfamate were found to have bladder cancer, so it was banned in the United States and Japan in 1970. In subsequent studies, no carcinogenic effect of this product was found. Oral sodium cyclohexane sulfamate, 40% excreted by urine, 60% excreted by feces, no accumulation phenomenon. China's "Hygienic Standard for the use of Food Additives" (GB 2760-2014) strictly limits the amount of cyclamate in food processing.
